Support Technologies

For speed and efficiency of rendering -
  • Microsoft DirectXTM as the lowest level rendering tier to fully utilize the hardware acceloration. Microsoft DirectX is a collection of APIs for handling tasks related to multimdeia on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with Direct, such as Direct 3D, DirectDraw and so forth. When Microsoft later set out to develop a gaming console, the DirectX was used as the basis of the name Xbox to indicate that the console was based on DirectX technology.

  • SlimDX as the second rendering tier to maximally reduces the complexity of the scenario handling. An open-source API to DirectX programming under .NET, SlimDX can be used from any language under the .NET runtime (an advantage of the CLR) and can be used to develop multimedia and interactive applications and enable high performance graphical representation.

  • Microsoft WPF as the third rendering tier to provide best usability and maintainability. Acting as a computer-software graphical subsystem for rendering user interfaces in Windows-based applications, Microsoft WPF, previously known as "Avalon", was initially released as part of .NET Framework 3.0. WPF utilizes DirectX. WPF attempts to provide a consistent programming model for building applications and provides a separation between the user interface and the business logic.

For better performance, scalability and user experience -
  • Microsoft Dot Net Framework 4.0. A software framework for Microsoft Windows operating systems, the Dot Net Framework includes a large library and supports multiple programming languages which allows language interoperability. The Dot NET library is available to all the programming languages that .NET supports.
    • Handle the concurrent data access.
    • Fully take advantage of multi-core / multi-CPU computer systems.
    • Provide seamless data communication from server to clients.

  • Support performance monitor functionalities to help fine tune the application.

  • Provide layer management to help display the GIS and survey information based on the users’ preferences.

  • Microsoft Ribbon Technology to provide a simple and powerful GUI (Graphical User Interface) to enable easy learning.
